6th GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
        The sixth grade course of study begins with human societies: Paleolitic and Neolithic Ages discussing hunters and gathers and how they adapted to their physical environment. Ancient River Valley Civilizations for example Mesopotamia, Egypt, Indus (modern Pakistan and India)  and the Yellow River Valley in China how these  areas developed due to favorable geographic conditions. Classical Civilizations such as Greece, Rome,India and China their development and expansion,creating centralized governments and promoting commerce, a common culture and social values; we also look at the decline of these cultures due to both internal weakness and external invasions and the lasting legacies for future society. In conclusion we study the Emergences of Empires in Asia,Africa,Europe and the Americas resulting from trade, cultural exchange,new technologies, urbanization and centralized political organizations. Students will discuss language, religion, government,education,jobs for each of the civilizations.



STUDENT EXPECTATIONS :
    1. Be present.
    2. Be an active participant, prepared for class with your purple two pocket folder, materials needed, pencil case, and  ready to read and discuss.
    3. Complete all Homework, when assigned, meeting all due dates.
    4. Write legible.
    5. Answer all questions in complete sentences,phrasing part of the question into your answer.
